What causes the [SPAM] insertion in the subject of many of my emails?

My apologies if this has been discussed and answered. Just hooked up to this
newsgroup and didn't see a thread on this subject. I have my McAfee
Spamkiller disabled but still get this "[SPAM]" insertion at the beginning
of many non spam emails. Anyway to prevent it? Is it caused by Windows Mail
settings? Just got the Vista computer a week ago so have only used Windows
Mail for the past week.
Would appreciate any insights.

Get rid of McAfee altogether. It is a cause for many problems with Windows Mail

You need to uninstall any McAfee product as they cause big troubles. See
www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

But that is not what puts the [SPAM] in there. That is on the server side
and you can adjust that on the mail server web interface usually. Check
with your mail provider.
