I have for some time now used my calender to remind me when to pay my
bills and to track paid and unpaid bills by color categoryI have a color for
Paid and colors for Credit cards; loans; Utilities etc. Prviously to 2007 I
could change a single item in a series to the paid category and the rest of
the series remained unchanged. 2007 automatically changes the entire series
and I can't find a way around it. I could probably write a macro someday when
I have time but I still feel really aggravated that the programming team
would slip up like that and the beta testing process lets so much slip by.
Can anyone offer some help so I can go back to marking each bill paid
without distrubing the series? Doers anyone else use outllook for bill
tracking and have any other sly tips for the rest of us?

Sorry, but this is not accurate. Prior to Outlook 2007, colors were
associated with labels (not categories) and labels could be changed on
individual recurrence instances. Categories have always applied to the entire
event and could not be changed for individual recurrence instances.

The behavior of categories has not change. What has changed is that colors
are associated with categories now instead of labels. Since categories cannot
be assigned by recurrence instances (as always), now neither can colors.

Semantics aside. Before in 2003 I could click an object and pick open
this occurrence then change the category from one set for a green "monthly
bill" to a Red "Paid" and the display of the single ocurrence would change to
Red and the rest of the series would be unchanged. In 2007 the exact same
actions result in a change to the entire series displaying in the Red. I am
very aggraveted about the new results for the same old action to the point
where I am looking at alternatives to Outlook to track my monthly commitments
and daily schedule.
Can anyone actually offer some help before I give up on office
altogether. I consider it unacceptable for a software company to make changes
like this without considering the customer's who use it.

When dealing with technical issues, semantics are everything.

No, you didn't do this. Categories had no colors in Outlook 2003, only labels
did and even in Outlook 2003, as I said, you could NOT change the category of
an individual instance of a recurrence pattern.

Impossible because coloring in Outlook 2007 does not use "the same action."
