Catalyst control center

I recently installed the cat 6.24 drivers and since then I get a dialog
box that says "you don't have permission to change catalyst control
center settings"

I have checked on the ATI web site and their answer in the knowledge
base has a couple of ideas but neither solves the problem. I have never
had any trouble upgrade drivers and have had this AIW 9800 pro card for
several years with no problem.

I have the same problem. There is a thread in the forums at Rage3d.com on
this but still has not helped. May be something to do with a MS .NET hotfix.
I gave up and uninstalled CCC as it is unneeded. Post back if you make any
progress.

Did you login as administrator?

Hey Jack. Try this: Go to Control Panel>Add Remove Programs. Select
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 and click Change/remove button. It then took me
through the installation of the >Net 2.0. It seems even though I installed
through Windows Update, it never got properly configured. Hope this helps
you. The whole .NET think is strange as when I tried to uninstall the .NET
1.1 Hotfix it said that I needed .NET 1.1 Service Pack and could not
uninstall hotfix. I also have two entries for .NET 1.1 Framework in
Add/Remove Programs. Oh well, at least CCC works. Post back your results.

By the way. I downloaded the re-distributable versions of .NET Framework 1.1
Service Pack (KB867460) 1 and the security update for Service Pack 1
(KB886903).
When I tried to install Service Pack 1 it said that I already had it
installed so I canceled. When I tried the security update it said I did not
have Service Pack 1. So I re-installed Service Pack 1 and the security
update would then install. What a mess. I think the whole .NET installation
is fixed and CCC still works.

Yes, I am the only user for the most part, of this computer and am the
administrator. I have never had any problems with ATI drivers and
updates until now. Some people don't like the CCC but I thought it was
OK (until now<G>) I had done a complete uninstall using Cat uninstaller
and then installed the drivers again. Also at present my ATI Guide plus
isn't working, says it has no connection, but that isn't anything big, I
can overcome that later. Another thing for those on this group, ever
since I installed the Cat 6.24 and upgraded MMC to 9.13 I get a double
sound background when watching TV, it sounds like its an echo chamber or
like two sound sources are working one slightly behind the other.

Kent hit the nail right on the head with "Microsoft .NET Framework".

One thing I noticed that may help troubleshoot the problem is to try using the program menu's "Restart Runtime."
If it fails then "Microsoft .NET Framework" could be the cause but if it works then it's working.
If "Microsoft .NET Framework" loads slowly CCC may have tried to load to quickly.

That's why CLI has that switch "/Delay"

Well it is working now, but I am not sure exactly what I did. I did
redownload the Net framework and also got in on Microsofts site and got
the update for the net framework. Anyway so far it is working OK.
Thanks to all for your advice.
