Reference:Outlook 2007.
I changed the “Red Category” to “Medical” in the calendar category option.
Now in the mail view at the bottom on the status bar there appears Renaming
“Red Category” to “Medical”…
It never stops. Every time I open Outlook the above line of text appears in
the status bar. How can I get rid of it? I have changed several other
category color references in calendar and do not have any problem with them

We had that question already, but nobody knew the answer. This seems to be a
bug. If you rename a category in OL, it loops through all your store and
also renames the string in emails, contacts etc. (former versions didn't do
that).

What happens if you delete the category?

I deleted the catagory, quit and brought OL up and it still insisted to
rename red
catagory to medical with the red catagory missing. The color on the
calandar appointments went to neutral. Creating a new red catagory caused
the appropriate dates to tun red. Looks as if the program has branched to
another routine with no means of exiting.

I found the suggestion below in another forum. It didn't work for me, but
apparently has for many others. Good luck...!!

It is stuck in a loop because there is a folder in a PST or OST file that is
corrupted. Fixing the corruption not only got rid of the renaming category
loop - but also sped up Outlook startup times.

Look at all the folders that you have in the mail folders pane on the left.
I have multiple PST files open - so for me there are lots of folders. To find
out which one is corrupt and needs fixing - I right clicked each folder and
selected "Properties" and then "Folder Size". The folder that is corrupt will
return error for folder size.

Once you have found the corrupted folder, select properties -> advanced to
find out the file name and location of the PST file.

Then run scanpst.exe (or scanost.exe if it is an OST file) to fix it.

instructions on scanpst are here
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ou...0563001033.asp x

I found the program here:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12
