I purchased an ATI AIW 9600XT about a month ago. No problems with the card
in Windows 98 SE except for two monitor problems with multview.

So, stupid me decides to upgrade to XP SP2.

I tried installing Cat 6.4 and MMC 9.13. Problem is that I get "Unknown
AVStream Source 1". I tried Cat 6.3...same problem.

Finally I've downgraded to Cat 6.2 and MMC 9.08. Installed fine without
errors. Now the problem is video and sound stuters! F*#K!

I sent ATI an email describing the "Unknown AVSteam Source 1"....they sent
me an email saying it's a configuration problem. But they fail to mention
what's configured wrong....

This is the last ATI card I'm ever buying!!!

Does anyone have a solution .... ?

TIA
Chris.

Hydravision is for dual monitor support. Multview is for dual tuners. Don't
know that 9.13 has any benefit over 9.08 on the AIW. I assume they meant the
stuttering was a configuration problem. "Unknown AVSteam Source 1" Is their
Unified driver.
When going to older versions I think you should uninstall the old and run
the CatUninstaller, at least. That's what I did when I when I went back to
9.08.Order of installation is important. for details.

This is what you need to do. Install MMC 9.061. I never liked MMC 9.08.
It had problems with guide plus+ too.

One advantage that 9.08 has over 9.13 is that 9.13 has no way to deactivate
TV-on-Demand, which may be why the OP's machine is stuttering. It's
doubtful, given that his original OS was 98 SE, that his machine is beefy
enough to handle TOD.

Yes, I realize that Hydravision is for dual monitor support and Multview is
for dual tuners. I guess I should have specified that in my original post.
I have two monitors hooked up to the AIW 9600XT and I also have an ATI
Wonder Pro card. However, the stuttering is occuring without having
software installed for the ATI Wonder Pro card...so, I figured there is no
reason to complicate the post for nothing...sorry about that.

As for the "Unknown AVStream Source 1" message. I've tinkered with
computers for quite some time and usually consider any message that states
UNKNOWN to be a problem of some sort.

I'm really not at the stage yet where I've installed much of anything past
the installation of the ATI software and use Ghost to restore the partition
to the pre ATI software installation state. Hence, there is no way there
can be any remnents of ATI software. From experience, I know that there is
always some setting in the registry or some file left behind after an
uninstall of every type of software.

Thanks for the link to the install instructions....I originally installed
the software in sequence as listed on the download page....but I'll double
check to make sure.

Thanks for the info.

That's exactly why I uninstalled 9.13. I couldn't turn off the damned
TV-on-Demand! I thought it was a programming flaw!?

I got rid of 9.13 and Cat 6.4 because
a) Unknown AVStream Source 1
b) Could not turn off TOD

Now you folks are telling me that this is the way it's supposed to be?

OK, the Unknown driver name I can overlook but, what's the point of having
TOD on permanently? Please correct me if this is a wrong statement but I
thought that TOD on means that the TV signal is constantly being recorded to
my hard drive!? If so, that's wear and tear on the hard drive I don't care
for. Is there a registry hack to disable it?

As for my systems specs.
Athlon Mobile 2500+ clocked to 2365Mhz ( 11 x 215 )
1024MB Crucial memory set to 215Mhz

I figure that's more then enough horse power....no?

I use TVoD(@reduced quality) on this my internet computer with an AIW128pro
,P3-450 dual booting either standard W98 or W2K. I had no problems with 9.13
just using the AIW9600XT on the video computer. Have a HDTV Wonder so
somewhat used to the TVoD.
Theirs a registry hack for the TVoD on rage3d.com. I went back because of
crashing with the HDTV Wonder.

I have a 3.06 GHz P4 with 4GB dual channel RAM and an ATA133 500GB
hard drive with 300GB free and TOD still makes my machine stutter.
Just how much machine do I need to run it?

I've only been able to run it stably at a lowered resolution.
