I have a DOS-based POS system that connect with a cash drawer, when the
system send a signal to cash drawer, an error message "write fault error
device COM1" show (drawer is not open). But when I type "echo aaaa > COM1" at
command prompt, drawer can open.
Can someone help me? Urgent!

If the "dos program" attempts to directly access the COM port in an NT
PC, it will fail. Other possibilities exist in that POS may not be
configured correctly to access the COM port. Have you contacted the
program vendor for advice?

specs on a cash drawer controlled via an Epson TM-T88II printer
show a special control-A sequence is needed to open the drawer.
Epson or Star printers support some kind of data sequence to open
the cash drawer. is this your enviroment?
