Please contact the support department of the manufacturer
of your printer and request some assistance.

Your issue is unrelated to the Windows XP operating system.

Jeanie

Most inkjet printers require that both colour and black cartridges are in
working order..

Your question has nothing to do with WIndows XP, and moreover how
to do this depends on what printer you have (which you haven't
told us). Your best bet is to contact your printer manufacturer
and ask them.

But if you are under severe time pressure, I wouldn't do this
now. Just put your letter on a diskette or CD and take it to the
computer of a friend who runs the same word processing software
you do; print it there, and worry about your printing problems
later.

You're welcome and not a problem. More than anything else, the
problem with posting to the wrong group is that you might not get
the answer you need.

When you do post to the correct group it just might help if you mention the
printer make and model.

All the major inkjet manufacturers require you to
have operational (not empty) black AND color
cartridges in your printer at all times. That's why
it's a good idea to stock up on both type of cartridges
when the printer's utility indicates that you're low
on ink.
