I too have a USB 2.0 multicard reader, which I have tested with different CF
and SD cards. The read/write speeds are limited by the read/write speeds of
memory card and not by the USB interface(480Mbps=60MB/sec). Also write
speeds are highly dependent on the number of files and the average size of
files written to memory card.
