A new SD card reader will not install automatically. XP keeps asking
for software or driver. Any Ideas for a newbie?

What Brand and Model of Card Reader?
USB 2, USB 1 or Firewire?

It's a Verbatim All-in-One card reader model 47196. USB type not
known.

Sorry Dave, I'm stumped.
That card reader should be supported by Win Xp.

Try to borrow another recent vintage card reader to see if it works OK.
If YES, your card may be faulty.
If NO, it may be an issue with Xp.
You may try visiting Microsoft Knowledge Base for a remedy.
