The subject line pretty much sums it up.
If I burn an audio CD on CD-RW it plays fine in my 2005 Altima.
When I burn, only recently though, an audio CD on a CD-R (not re-
writable) it doesn't work.

I have some old CD-R's that play just fine. I don't know what I'm
doing wrong.

My PC/CD burner was having issues so I thought to replace it. A few
months later and I'm still having the same issue.

To top it off, it's becoming quite hard to find CD-RW's here in the
local market. I have this one that I keep re-burning after I get sick
of the current selection.

Any ideas?

I've tried going down to 4x burning speed.
I've tried finalizing and not finalizing.
I've tried the different Nero strategies for burning.
I've upgraded Nero.
I've tried caching and not caching the mp3's, which are already on my
hard drive.
I've tried Disc-at-Once and Track-at-Once.

And I think I've tried all the possible combinations.

Any direction I get would be HIGHLY appreciated.

try a different brand of CD-R

Unless you're burning using a different format that you used to, they should
work.
As long as I tell Nero to 'burn a music cd' it works fine.
If I just copy .wma or .mp3 files, many players won't read them.

Use Nero express to write to the cd r choose music in the left pane and audio
cd in the right pane, click next to continue, Add files with the add button
on the right, when completed, check off normalize all audio files (this will
allow the cd to be played in all types of players), choose next when ready
and choose the current recorder you wish to use to record, enter a title and
artist if applicable...leave it set to 1 copy do not verify, it is a waste of
time, then click burn...
It should work fine...I also have a manual in .rar form if you know how to
use winrar, here is the link for the manual

One obvious difference is that CDRWs are all 650MB while CDR can be 650, 700
or 800MB. It could be a compatibility issue in the car's player. Try
burning on 650Mb digital audio CDRs. You should finalize the CDR so that the
TOC is written correctly. Track at once burning can introduce click noises
between tracks.

Stores that sell CDR can certainly get CDRWs as well. If they don't stock
them you can always ask if they will bring some in for you.

I would recommend trying a 650mb CDR, not the more common 700mb. If you
had burned disks before that worked, what was that brand? Try that brand
again if possible. Older cd-audio players (tho yours is a 2005) are
sensitive to the brand and capacity. Only 650 MB CDRs are truely
"compatable" with older CD Players, the 700's pack the track closer
together and some players simply can't sync onto it.

you also might want to try the "Disc at Once / 96" burn method, it's a tad
more backward compatable. And you DO need to finialize the disk, always.

you are burning an AUDIO disk, right? not a DATA disk. of course you
are, never mind...
