Ok this is a good one. When I boot up my computer, an
alarm goes off. No joke, it sounds like a car alarm, or
a european police car. Hi-lo siren. What in the world
could cause this.

Thanks for any help....

It could indicate that a CPU fan failed or the internal temperature is too
hot or something along those lines. Go into your BIOS and see what warnings
are set to sound an alarm.

Where does the sound comes from? The PC speaker or the
speakers connected to your sound card? If it's from the PC
speaker it may just be that the beep from the post is
unsually long and loud for some reason. You could just
unplugged the PC speaker. If it's from the speakers
connected to your sound card then the sound card itself
may have a problem.

Do you have any system monitoring utilities installed on the system?
Motherboard Monitor, Hardware Doctor etc? If the siren alarm is
going off during or after Windows boots, that's probably the problem.
If it goes off as soon as you turn it on or before Windows starts to
load then it's a hardware issue.

Oh, I just remembered another case where I ran into this..

I was trying to install an old ISA audio card (Turtle Beach Pinnacle)
into a system, and when the device driver for the card was set to
a specific I/O address (I think it was something like 110h or 140h
but I don't remember for sure), it set off the system alarm during
Windows boot. Changing to a different I/O address fixed the
problem. So it might also be caused by a resource conflict. Check
Device Manager.

This is an overheat CPU alarm from the BIOS, shut your pc
off turn the power to it off, and investigate why the temp
is getting so high, it could be dust buildup on the fan
or lost connection to the CPU fan, or whatever.
you may have already fried the CPU beyond what it can
recover from..

It could also be an open case/tamper alarm
