Hi Mark,
The free space, condition (defrag status) and speed of the hard drive is
most important during capture..... and laptop hard drives are typically
slower than desktops. I suggest you look there first.
Try the WinDV utility... there's a link on the Camcorders > Introduction
page of
www.papajohn.org - it has a pretty good buffer to help with captures
and exports.
