Hello,

I'd like to play with some video capture. Actually put my work into
something used around my own home for a change. We have horses and both me
and my wife work out of town a lot. We'd like to keep an eye on things
around the house, particularly the horses.

Where can I learn more about capturing pictures and viewing them over the
web? I'm looking to do something similar to what Dept of Transportation
uses to show their traffic cams.

Has anyone done this? Where is a good place to start for coding needs and
examples? Can you recommend indoor and/or outdoor cameras?

I know I can buy ready made packages, but I've never written an app for my
own use, this would be a fun project - and something to learn as well.

Any help? Sorry, I know this isn't exactly the right ng to post this in,
but I will be developing in VB.net / ASP.net.

Mike

For an out-of-the-box solution you can download the Windows Media Encoder
from Microsoft from
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...r/default.aspx

If you are looking at building your own custom solution take a look at the
SDK
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...automation.asp

There are complete code samples there - including one to broadcast a live
stream.

Have fun!

Excellent - Thanks!

How in the heck do you find these links? I swear I searched most of last
night (including on MSDN) - and found mainly sales pages.

Regardless, thanks for the links! They'll be much help.
