i hope someone can help i am totally new ot this, i have a canon MVX200I dv
camcorder connected to my pc via firewire, i am using moviemaker 2 to try and
capture the short movie i have on the camcorder, problem is that only the
first 2 or 3 seconds of the movie show on the preview and then the program
just hangs.checking in task manager shows that WMM2 is using 98% of the CPU.

I tried just capturing a 1 minute section of the movie and left the computer
running, but after an hour still nothing was happening.

computer specs are amd athlon 1700xp CPU, 512 mb DDR Ram, empty 80GB Hard
drive .windows xp home SP2

i have removed all other capturing software from the PC.

closed all unnecessary process.

it is almost as if my PC can not keep up with the camcorder but i believe i
have more than the minimum spec required

i am starting to get frustrated now, so if anyone can offer any ideas i
would appreciate it

brian
