Capturing DV - strange behaviour !!

I am using video editing package Edition 5 Pro on a P4
2.6 GHz (512 MB Ram, 40GB+120GB drives) with ATI Rage
Theater Video card on Windows XP Home.
When I first attach the DV camera everything works fine,
I can control the camera capture video & audio as I would
expect. The second and subsequent times I try it, all I
see is a black screen in the logging tool although I can
still control the camera. If I unload/reload the USB
drivers, same thing happens - first time OK then nothing!

I have also tried this on Windows movie maker and the
same thing happens. Sounds like a set up issue maybe in
Windows - any ideas anyone?
Grateful for any help.
