capturing from an analog source

I just purchased a Gateway computer system with a video card that should allows me to capture from analog/composite source, however MM2 continues to show an error that says the video source is already in use close any programs using it. This is weird because the only program I was running at the time was MM2. I've tried connecting the cables from the front of the VCR and from the rear. Any help or assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
