Capturing from an analog source, part deux

I just purchased a Sony VAIO desktop with all sorts of
input jacks; RCA plugs, firewire, coax, S-video. I
connect my VCR's analog outputs to the RCA jacks in either
the front panel or the rear. When I try to "Capture Video"
via the pre-installed MovieMaker v5.1, I get an error "A
video source was not detected. Verify that a device is
turned on and connected properly, and then try again." I
think I've got the VCR connected correctly. Anyone got
any insight into what might be wrong? Thank you.

Same happens to me. Seems like MM works only via IEEE1394 connection. If you have an NTSC tape and, I hope, you got GigaPocket with your Sony, you can use GigaPocket to capture analog signal and then import it into MM.
But I had to reconvert .MPG GigaPocket video capsule into .AVI first using DVgate Plus, because my MM doesn't understand .MPG GigaPocket video capsule (sound, but no video).
I would like very much to resolve analog video capture with MM, because it suppose to understand PAL signal as well and that's why I need it. GigaPocket shows PAL signal as B&W and with very poor quality.
