any one have suggestion on analog tape capture to dv.
using direwired HD drives. but converter boxes are slow.
Why does not ms have a firewire input capture software or
ext box. ?

There are video cameras that have firewire
built in. So, once u take a video with it, all
you do is connect it to the firewire port
and capture with the right software. And
voila you have the video on the hdd.

Oops think I misread your post. You can
buy firewire PCI cards, if u have something
with firewire on it. Thje video camera would have to have firewire.

The only other option is as you say converter boxes.
