captured video only shows 20 seconds

Hi,

I captured about 7 minutes of continuous video with Movie Maker. The
file appears to be the right size (close to 2Gigs, as it is a DV AVI,
no compression). However, loading it up in any program shows it as
being about 20 seconds. It is the last 20 seconds of the video. I was
wondering if the rest of the video is recoverable somehow? (Yes, I
erased it from the tape withouth checking!).
I've never had trouble capturing with Movie Maker before so I thought
this was strange.

Any help would be appreciated!

Got it working.
For future reference, I captured another clip of something random, at
just slightly longer than my original (I just made sure the file size
was at least as large), then used a Hex Editor to copy what appeared to
be the header (basically, whatever appeared to have some sort of
pattern before it turned into seemingly random stuff), and replaced the
header on my original file. Then it worked! It did crash Media Player
at the very end, but I was able to re-render it in Adobe Premiere no
problem (VirtualDub seemed to have no troubles either).

Cool trick.
