If I remember right the captions in "montage" are only visible on mouseover.

mjshore,

I found other ways of creating a photogallery.

Eleanor has some good advice in a previous post

So does Steve Easton. Here are some earlier postings, including some between
myself and Steve

You can find Irfanview at http://www.irfanview.com/ The option Thumbnails is
what is under discussion

The thumbnails that IrfanView created are 3 to 4 kb in size.
The actual images are 24 to 50 kb.

The advantage with IrfanView ( imho ) is that you can point it at a folder
full of images, open one
of the images, click resize / resample ( use resample it makes better
images ) set the size and
compression you want and then do a "batch" resize resample.
Tell it where to save the resized images ( use a different folder ) and in
about the time it takes
to read this it's done.

You can easily get a huge 1mb .bmp camera image down to a 600 by 800 .jpg
that only has a file size
of 50 to 60 kb without loosing any image quality.

You can also embed comments, copyright info, edit / remove EXIF information
etc "inside" your
images as part of the batch process.

Then point it at the new folder, do the thumbnail thing and then save as
html.

I'm sure there's a way to "pre-define" the look of the finished pages, I
just haven't dug into it
yet.

obtw, you can also play audio and video files in IrfanView. ( and much
more )
