If I embed an image (JPG, GIF, etc.) in an e-mail and send it, it is received
fine by the addressee, but I can't see the image in the message if I look
through the "Sent Items" folder. All I see is the message is dredded Red "X"
box where the image would have been.

If I , however, click on "Forward", it then appears in the message to be
forwarded, so I know it's stil there somehow.

Any ideas how I can scroll through the messages in my "Sent Items" folder
and see the embedded images without having to click on "Forward"?

Thanks,

Try these steps. It worked for me.

1. Locate the Outlook Temporary Items folder by opening the Registry and
locating
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Outlook\Security\OutlookSecureTempFolder
2. Navigate to the value of this Key. It should be something like:
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\OLK3D\ where OLK3D is
some randomly generated string that always starts with OLK
3. Quit Outlook
4. Delete the contents of the folder
5. Launch Outlook

Thank you Helpdesk Don.

One of my users had the exact same problem. We followed the steps outlined
below for clearing out the Outlook Temporary items and the embedded images
appeared !!

Now my question is this: why would this folder contain so many images and
not get cleared out? Is there something that needs to be set?

What appears to be happening is that the image001.jpg or image001.gif file
that is created in that folder for an embedded image is not getting
overwritten. This particular person had image001(2).jpg, image001(3).jpg,
image001(4).jpg, image002.jpg, image002(2).jpg, image002(3).jpg, etc. It
looks like new files are being created everytime the Email containing the
embedded image is opened.

Any suggestions on why this might be?
Thank you !

Helpdesk Don your solution worked for me as well. The path was not exactly
correct for me but I searched for the file name and found it and deleted the
contents and I was able to see embedded images. I was having a tough time
finding a solution to this problem. Thanks a lot.
