I cant view pictures in my emails all I get is a box with a red x.

whenever I try to view any of the pictures in my emails all there is vis a
box where the picture should be and a red x in the corner.I am using outlook

Are you connected to the Internet when you're viewing these mail items? Many
times mail items just contain links to images on the 'net.

Also make sure you do the following:
Tools, options, security, Change automatic download settings , uncheck 'Don't
download....' Leave Warn me checked.

your outlook might be set to TEXT ONLY . if it is so. then change tht to HTML
or RTF.. thats it

That's typically meant to control the outbound email format not the inbound
(although there's a registry setting that allows you to read in TextOnly but
is the user is seeing Red X's that means they're viewing in HTML)
