I have a hard drive with a substantial amount of important data that was not
backed up that I need to access.

I have tried a number of configurations but currently I have the two drives
set up as Master and Slave on the same IDE channel. Of course the drive I am
trying to access is the slave.

The drive is recognized during the BIOS Post test but then after windows
starts up it does not show up at all in My Computer or Explorer.

I have also tried to run a command prompt and then cd d: but it tells me
there is no such drive.

All that I want to do is access the drive to copy the important data and
then I will reformat and start all over with a fresh installation of the
programs after which I can copy the data back to the drive.

I am completely stumped as to how I can gain access to this drive and
greatly appreciate any help that is offered.

What is shown in Disk Management?
Perhaps you need to assign a drive letter
I assume that the jumpers are set correctly
