Can't view Contact except with Ctrl-shift B

I'm not sure where it went wrong with my Outlook 2003 that I have
installed on Windows XP.

[The problem]
- The only way I can view my contacts is by popping up that limited
functionality pop-up Window with the keyboard combo: Ctrl-shift B.

There is no "contacts" folder on the left, even in the Mail view.

I have a screenshot to explain:

Do you think I need to reinstall (after first removing Outlook from
within XP control panel)?

I've tried simply reinstalling, but I didn't get the contacts view back.

I used to have Contacts up on top, under "My Contacts", on the top
image.
Feedback appreciated
Steve

That shortcut combo brings up the Address Book, not your contacts. Contact
folders will never show in the mail view, only the All Folders view or the
Contacts view. Have you tried clicking on the My Contacts bar?

Thanks MIlly, yes, I've tried clicking on everything that even remotely
says "Contacts"

1. I tried clicking on everywhere that it says "My Contacts", or
"Contacts", in the screenshot that I included in orig post.
2. Tried all menu options for various views, but no go..

In the screenshot, way in the upper left, where you see the white, bold
font word: "Contacts"...
Well, under that, there is a space, and under that space there is:
"Current View"..

In that space, there should be an icon or a folder, that I remember
having.

Just wanted to post an addendum.

I actually don't need the "Address Book".

I could instead start from scratch and start creating "Contacts", whatever
these are, if this would give me the capability to add/edit/interface to
these contacts in the same way that I interact with Mail, Calendar, etc..

If "Contacts" means "names, phone, email", than this is what I want to
create.

I could then put the Address Book to rest.

The Address Book is a virtual view of your contacts that have electronic
addresses. It simply does not exist as a separate entity.

If you are truly missing the Contacts folder, then try starting Outlook one
time with the /resetfolders switch.

Start->run->outlook.exe /resetfolders (Notice the space before the /)

Have a look at Folder List view of the Navigation Pane ( the window you sent
a screen shot of). Is there a Contacts folder? If not, Milly's advice to
reset folders should do the trick.

When you post in here, always include your version, SP level, and mode (if
applicable) of Outlook - you can find this information in Help | About. Also
include the type of mail account(s) you use and any other pertinent details.
Be sure to put a concise summary of your question in the subject line, and
the full details in the body of your post.

Thanks Judy - and Milly.
I will try that switch after making sure I back up my outlook pst file (
if this is not necessary, well, there's more of my lack of knowledge).

If not, I will wipe out outlook and try installing again.

Best,
Steve
