I have a Toshiba pcx1100U cable modem on one port and a
HP d135 printer on the other. They were working fine.
Suddenly, my printer stopped working. I uninstalled and
reinstalled the software and it started working again but
only when my modem is unplugged. How do i get them both
plugged in at the same time again? Thank-you in advance

You're best bet may be to try a system restore back to a point when both
were playing nicely together. When the printer developed and problem and
was uninstalled it is possible to registry entries were removed that
shouldn't have been or that file(s) were deleted that have caused the
problem.

Otherwise, you might delete all of your USB entries in device manager and
have XP redetect - can't say that either will resolve the issue because it's
difficult to determine what caused the initial problem?

FWIW,
