When I look in the help resources for MS Frontpage 2003 regarding how to
password protect a subweb(subsite) or web(site), it says I should go to the
'Tools' menu and select either 'Server' or 'Security'. Neither of these is
an option on my 'Tools' menu. I really need to password protect part of my
website for my organization; what should I do? I'm so confused.

If you feel your current issue is a results of installing
a Service Pack or security update, please contact
Microsoft Product Support Services:
http://support.microsoft.com
If the problem can be shown to have been caused by a
security update, then there is usually no charge for the call.

My problem, as it was originally posted, still stands. Can anyone else
actually read the original problem and help me out with it?

Thanks.

You have to have the live "server" version open in FrontPage.

Also, what kind of server and server OS is your site hosted on??

You must open the live/remote site in FP, create a subweb/site (create a folder, then right click
and select to convert to a subweb/subsite), then double-click to open it in FP, then check to see if
the menu option is active, if it is not, then you web host does NOT allow you to use this feature of
the FP extensions. Also you host may not let you create subwebs/sites.

You question of "how to" password protect your site - if you follow the link
given by Thomas, you'll find it does answer that question.

Regarding setting the server/security on Tools Menu - I believe you have to
open your site "live" to set the folder/security permissions but this is
only available if your host sets up the server to allow you to do so. Also
you need to convert the folder to a sub-site/sub-web (again, only if your
Host allows this).

If you want a simple password protection program, this might help:
