Cant Use browser address bar

Hi,

I can't use the browser address bar.
When I type a link in it says it cannot find it, even though it does exist
as launching from a link works.#

Gone to tools/options/advanced/ and checked go to most likely site.

It doesn't work.

Using IE 6
Windows XP.
