Can't Upgrade(Reinstall)Win2k

I have been advised to reinstall OS and get error message "Existing software
was not fully installed" during setup. It tells me to log off and back on
and the program will finish loading, however that doesn't work. Any
suggestions!

Boot from your Win2000 CD, then install over the top of the
existing installation.
