I have repeatedly tried to upgrade to AOL 9.0 only to keep
getting the ERROR Message 806...stating that AOL cannot
download the necessary files because I need to make sure
that I am logged on with administrator privileges and then
attempt to download again. I receiveds some help from AOL
and they told me that this is a XP problem and sent me to
the help page for this. I followed all the steps
necessary supposedly to correct this problem...IE:
1. Started computer in safe mode w/ networking
2. Logged on as user with adm. privileges.
3. Located the folder (aol setup)
4. Located the security tab...then added the name (i even
made a new administrator account)..
5. Then made sure to click...allow full control.

I restarted my computer only to once again get that very
same Error message. What do I do now???????? PLEASE HELP
ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

>Well not realy a fan of AOL as there program uses

netscape for broswer and it is a open sorce program that
has a BIG backdoor in it for Hackers to get into your
computer...My personal thought is to see if there is a
lower cost but better ISP in your area as for loading 9.0
you might have to shut down viruse program (make sure not
on line) and then load it as a new program over the old
one .. Good luck..

>yes...it is a Dell. I still have not gotten anyone to

help me fix this issue. The 9.0 cd does not come out till
the end of the month. I am capable of downloadin' other
files and programs so this makes no sense to me
whatsoever. Any clues? Thanks...Tina
