I have a new pc with a new install of office 2k3. I have a database with a
linked table that links to an excel file. I also have a link to a .cvs file.

Now on my other PC i can open the database and update the excel file.
However on the new system i cannot update the excel file! i can update the
csv file. I have looked all over for security or some other settings but
nothing. I assume that it is something with my install since the exact same
files open on the other machine.

Any ideas?

If i open the tables on the 2 machines, one lets me add a record one does
not.

daniel.

Microsoft removed the ability to modify an Excel workbook when they released
Office 2003 SP2, "for legal reasons":

Access 2003 cannot - unlike earlier versions - update linked Excel
data. Some of us are trying to find out why from Microsoft. :-{(
