I just got my "Dream Machine" up and running with the
best I couldn't afford but did any way. I used XP Pro for
an OS and wanted to finally update my sound and video
drivers after setting up all my preferences, e-mail and
users. Video drivers went good but I get an "error number
0x80040201 An event was unable to invoke any of the
subscribers" when I try to unistall my Audigy 2 drivers
and software with ADD/REMOVE Programs. Even if I autoplay
the installation disk I can't reinstall the software or
remove it. And my eax control panel won't come up,
instead it says no sound blaster detected. Yet the sound
card is working and showing up in Device Manager with the
proper drivers. I'm stumped. Is this what XP Pro is all
about?? Headaches? I know ... I'm the headache... another
backyard computer mechanic... Help if you can... Thanks
for your time

Google is your friend........

Use drivercleaner from driver heaven. First I removed the card from
the system. Then followed the instructions to remove all Creative
drivers,
references etc. I then reinserted the Audigy and made sure that the
CD
was in the drive before booting into windows. Windows will then
search
for the drivers and find them on the CD. Driver conflicts are a real
PITA.

I did exactly that and thought I had it beat but although
I now have drivers in place and my card is in Device
Manager and working (I've got sound!), I can't get the
rest of the software installed to take advantage of the
card and my live drive. I still get the same message when
I try to open EAX consol (no soundblaster detected) and
Audigy 2 software in add and remove still comes up with
an error about invoking subscribers. Thanks for your time
though. I appreciate it...
