I can't turn off the "search from Address bar" feature.
In IE6 (I use windows update to keep up to date with MS
products) I go into Tools/Internet Options.../Advanced and
towards the bottom click "Do not search from the Address
bar".

I exit IE, start it up again, and check that setting and
it has changed back. I have also tried changing it via
Control Panel/Internet Options while IE is not running.
After setting "Do not search from the Address bar", I
start up IE and the option has changed back.

I don't know any other way to attempt to turn this off and
the windows help (<F1>) says this is the way to do it.

Compliments of TonyKlein:

Download Spybot - Search & Destroy: http://tomcoyote.org/SPYBOT/
It detects and removes all kinds of spyware, dialers, hijackers, and
related nasties.

After installing, press Online, and search for, put a check mark at, and
install all updates.

Now close all browser windows, hit 'Check for Problems', and have SpyBot
remove all it finds.
When you've done all that, restart your computer, test your system, and see
whether your problem is
gone.

If it isn't, go to http://tomcoyote.org/hjt/ , and download Hijack This.

Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save
Log" button.
Press that, and save the log somewhere

Next, go to http://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/

Sign in, go to the appropriate section, press "new topic", explain your
problem, and copy and
paste the contents of the Hijack This log into your new message. You'll get
expert assistance in
dealing with your problem.
