Can't Switch off APC Backup

I have what must be the WIERDEST computer problem, EVER. Ever.

I have an APC Backup UPS 350 which all of a sudden won't allow me to turn it
off--short of unplugging and disconnecting the battery. If I depress the
power switch, the green "on line" flashes and it stays on.

There is NO WAY to switch it off. I even reset the circuit breaker switch.
No change.

I'm stumped.

Tips?

LRH

Try opening the unit (after unpluging from wall outlet) and disconnect
the battery from the back-ups pro...wait a few minutes then reconnect
the battery...sometimes the unit has a sensor that detects the battery
needing replacement...

Have you tried holding the switch in on a slow count of 5 secs or so?

i was thinking the same thing. if you just click the power button it doesn't
go off but if you hold it down too long it goes into self test mode.

I did that (disconnected the battery)--I only had to disconnect it for like
3 seconds, and that seemed to fix it.
