I am using Movie Maker 1.1 with a Dell Laptop running XP. Movie maker works
fine except when I plug in a Canon camcorder with no audio input jack.

When I plug in the camera, both the video and audio devices show the
camorder devices verses giving me the option to switch. I want to use the
camera as the video device and my plugged in mic for the audio. Right now I
am stuck with the built in camcorder mic which isn't the best sound
qualities.

I have been thrpough all of the options and am at a standstill. Any
suggestions?

Tom

Does the Canon not have a socket for an external mic, my oldish Hi-8 Canon
does? If a mic is plugged in here it cuts off the internal one.

If the cam is connected by firewire this is how it works.
Why not capture the video, then capture audio seperately and sync them
afterwards?

It doesn't have an eternal mic jack which is the problem.

I guess I could but I am not good at syncing the two formats. In fact I
don't know how to do that yet.
