When starting up I get a blue screen which begins: "A problem has been
detected..." Towards the bottom it reads: "Technical Information - ***STOP:
0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xFE8DEB87, 0XFE7BDC30, 0x00000000)"

I went to Safe Mode to try a System Restore to a few days ago but got the
same message at startup.

I tried "Last known configuration that worked" but that didn't work either.

What must I do?

More info here:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-gb/library/ms794023.aspx

"Parameter Description
1= The exception code that was not handled "
[the 1st # in parentheses]
in your case...

"0xC0000005: STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION
A memory access violation occurred."

Look in the Event Viewer (Google for how to...). May give a specific error.
Click the flagged Events in Applications or System categories, scroll down
and click the "go microsoft...." link for more info.
Test RAM. Test Harddrive.

Good Luck.
