We moved my in-law's computer to a new apartment and
after reconnecting it I wanted to see if it would start
up ok. Initially it did boot up fine, however, the
screen became fragmented and then froze. I had to power
it down by holding in the power button.
Upon trying to restart the computer I received this
message:
"We apologize for the inconvience, but windows did not
start up successfully. A recent hardware or software
change might have caused this.
If your computer stopped responding, restarted
unexpectedly, or was automatically shut down to protect
your files and folders choose Last Known Good
Configuration to revert to the most recent settings that
worked.
If a previous startup attempt was interrupted due to a
power failure or because the Power or Reset button was
pressed, or if you aren't sure what caused the problem,
choose Start Windows Normally."
I tried all the choices they proveded but nothing
worked. I even tried Safe Mode, but the computer always
dumped me back into the "We apologize..." message.
I opened the tower to see if anything had come loose in
the move. Everything seemed to be seated tightly. I
don't know what else to do so if anyone has any
suggestions I'd be very grateful if they sent them to
me. Thanks
