since I got upgrade from win98 to win2000, the system is not stable.
Sometime it got stuck and mouse does not move or it move slowly.
I got the svchost virus attack every time I got on online. I have upgrade
to win200 service pack 2. It has no help. I can't do anything about this
virus. I'm not really happy about win2000. Some program are not compatible
with win98. I can't upgrade every single program not compatble with win98.
I've been using win98 and DOS and now I got to learn and to deal with new stuff.
It takes many time... I can't spent more time on this. Now I'm stucked I can't
go back to Win98. There is no solution for svchost virus attack.

Do you have a firewall protecting your computer from the Internet? They're
mandatory - as is good antivirus software, as is running Windows Update to
get all critical updates, regularly.

Well, the latest SP for Win2k is SP4....don't know why you're on SP2...

Don't you mean, not compatible with Win2k?

Of course there is. Firstly, assuming your apps will indeed run on Win2k,
you might consider a fresh/clean install of Win2k (not an upgrade). Then
reinstall your apps and restore your backed-up data. This tends to work a
lot better - WinXP is the only upgrade I've seen work very well "in place".
Also, did you update all your device drivers to Win2k from the hardware
mfr's websites?

Remove the SASSER worm (causing svchost failure) if it is present using:

http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;841720

then get patched up to prevent further attacks by installing:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../ms04-011.mspx

otherwise try following Bob I's suggestion to revert back to Win98.
