I'm trying to do a mail merge in Word 2003 using my contact list from Outlook
2003. I'd like to edit the recipient list but it won't sort alphabetically
or let me filter. I click on the header or arrow and nothing happens. Any
ideas?

You could copy the list and paste it into Excel, then highlight all columns,
go to Data, Sort, and select the column(s) you want sorted. Adjust the mail
merge to use the Excel database.

Start the merge from Outlook after first having filtered the contacts list
to produce the records you wish to merge -

No need to reinvent the wheel - Outlook provides the tools to do this!

Thanks Graham. I don't know why it suddenly stopped working from within
Word. But your solution worked just as well - if not faster. Thanks again.
