Have no problem signing in,asking or answering questions, but I can't sign out!
Any suggestions?(Win XP Home SP2)
Would it have anything to do with using Firefox as my browser?
Didn't know where else to ask this....

You are having difficulties because you are using the web interface,
which is awful. The solution is to use a real newsreader, which is very
easy to set up. Here is information about this:

Since you are using the web interface, you may not realize that this is
really a newsgroup. You will get far more out of this resource if you
learn to use a newsreader. There are many good newsreaders for Windows,
but you can use Outlook Express since you already have it. Here are
some links to information about newsgroups:

Thanx Malke;
I use the Web based interface for two reasons,
1.I don't use Outlook Express.
2. I am stuck with dial up service,so have to be careful what I download.
Actually had all the settings configured to use Outlook Express as a News
Group Reader, but then switched to ThunderBird
Yes,it was very easy to set up.
So.....
How come I can't "sign out" ?
Ayush FYI,when using the Web based Interface news reader ,there are two sign
in/out buttons on the top right corner of the page.

1. I don't use Outlook Express either. I use KNode on Linux. Here are
some other newsreaders for Windows:

http://www.forteinc.com/agent/index.php - for Forte
http://www.mozilla.org
http://gravity.tbates.org/
http://www.40tude.com/dialog/
http://xnews.newsguy.com/

2. Since you have dialup, a newsreader will actually be better for you
because you can set it to only download headers, control the number of
headers, and also only download the headers of threads you want to see.
Then you only have to download the bodies of those articles that
interest you. Make sure you choose a newsreader that supports offline
work (KNode doesn't, for instance).

3. Since I don't use the web interface, I'm sorry that I can't answer
your question. I don't know of any the regular helpers in these groups
who use the web interface although they - or someone else - might
certainly know the answer to your question.

Good luck,

Malke

There's nothing to "sign out" of if you actually mean the actual newsgroup;
you just go away, close the window, whatever. Nothing to do with your
browser or anyting else; groups are usually all public and have nothing to
sign out of.

Any signout action needed would be displayed on the screen. If it's not
there, it's not needed or not available or plain old not necessary.

Thanx for that Pop.
I just won't worry about "signing out" then.
Just thought if there was a sign in/sign out button,I should be able to
utilize that option.Pretty sure I did when I used IE.

Well, this can be because of firefox. Try starting firefox in safe mode.

Hello,
Top right area, buttons "sign out - edit profile - help"
Will show after "sign in". Sign In needed if posting, not needed to read
post.
One is on the page and one is above MS search .
Foxfire.
IE has a similar set up.
take care.
beamish.
