I recently downloaded all the recommended security updates for windows.
After updates, I no longer can send outlook messages on open public wireless
networks, but I do receive messages. I get the message cannot find SMPT
server. On secured wireless networks I send and recieve. If I a using
ethernet connections, I can send and receive. I upgraded from outlook 2000
to outlook 2007 but the problem still exits. XP Professional.

Help Please

Can you telnet to the server and port it expects while connected to that
network?

But, in the hotels and business where I usually am, I can't send unless I am on the hard cable. I have asked the hotel IP group and they just say its my settings. Please continue to help me.

Thanks

Usually, if you can't reach the server via telnet to the port used for mail,
then it's not an Outlook problem, it's a network problem. If, however, you
can access in some places, but not in others, then it may be an
authentication problem and the hotel IP group is correct.
