I can't send pictures as attachments- the receiver gets a X

I'm using MS Outlook for XP. When I try to send a picture as an attachment
the recipient gets a rectangel with an X in it-- but no picture.

Make sure you're sending the message in HTML or Plain Text format, not Rich
Text format. You are actually attaching the picture to the message, right --
not inserting it into the message body? And the picture is coming from your
computer and not an external source?
