Please help...When I try to send mail I get this error message:

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'test', Account:
'mail.bellsouth.net', Server: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port:
587, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I have talked to my service provider and everything is good on their end. I
can send mail using web mail but not through Windows mail????

Thanks is advance..

Why are you using port 587 and SSL?
The directions here don't specify them...

Oops, when talking with the Bellsouth tech, he had me set it to 465, that
didn't work, so I saw another post about not being able to send email and it
said to set the port to 587, so I tried it just to see if that might
work...I've set it back to 465 and this is the message I received....

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'test', Account:
'mail.bellsouth.net', Server: 'mail.bellsouth.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port:
465, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

thanks

Use the settings specified in the URL link Dave gave you.
As far as we know, that SMTP mail server uses the default port (25)
and no SSL.
