The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was . Subject '', Account: 'pop.gmail.com',
Server: 'smtp.gmail.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '530 5.5.1
Authentication Required 40sm8530821nzf', Port: 587, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server
Error: 530, Error Number: 0x800CCC78

- Change your outgoing mail server name from pop.gmail.com to
smtp.gmail.com.

- Make sure your incoming mail server is named pop.gmail.com

- Set your account for "Authentication is required by my server".

- Set your incoming port to: 995/SSL

- Set your outgoing port to: 465/SSL.

That oughta do it. This is not a Vista/Winmail issue.
