Can't Send Link or Page By E-mail in IE 6.0, SP2

Hi!

I am using Windows XP Home Edition with IE
6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519.

I can not e-mail a link or a page out of IE, but can send a link to the
desktop. My e-mail is Outlook 2000. When I click to send a link or a
page, nothing happens. No error message or anything.

Any ideas on what I need to do to fix this?

Thanks!

Steve

Open IE, click tools, click options, click the programs tab? What's listed
for the default email? Often that's usually enough to get you to fix it on
your own...

I have just started encountering the same situation. Can receive limited
email with my server, but cannot s/r in XP pro. Outlook Express. Have tried
Galen's suggestion with no luck yet. All updates are current for my system.

Here is what I get when I click Send/receive icon.

"A time out has occured while trying to connect with your server" POP3 STMP
server is not responding: 0x800CCC19.
"0 of 1 task completed."

Hi Galen,

Thanks for the reply! I verified that the default mail program is
Outlook. So that does not seem to be the reason, unless Outlook is not
linking.

I am beginning to suspect the problem is in Outlook.

Any insight would be appreciated!

Steve

Hi Rob,

You saved me from trying my next option - changing my e-mail program to
Outlook Express.

That error message usually means that the e-mail server is not online
or at least not accessible to the program at that time. That can be
from a number of things but often it is a temporary condition.

It is interesting though that Outlook Express does not go ahead and
create the message and place it in the Outbox.

I am sure there is a solution out there somewhere! Well, I hope that
there is. LOL

Steve

Hmm...

This is likely better in an Outlook group then?

This is for OE but try it anyhow?

Does it fix it if you close IE and Outlook Express and then click on start >
run > type "regsvr32 ole32.dll" without the quotes > press enter?

Try to run the "Detect and Repair" tool on the Help Menu of Microsoft Office
Outlook:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/8215...23120121120120
"How to Repair or Reinstall Office Programs".
