I'm getting an error message - something re: "authentication setting might
not be correct for your outgoing e-mail server" - I'm trying to send a group
email, using bcc with an attachment ?

Hi, Here is the entire error message: thanks for your help ! B

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(E-Mail Removed)'. Subject 'Fibre
Show/ March 2009', Account: '24.71.223.43', Server: '24.71.223.43', Protocol:
SMTP, Server Response: '550 #5.1.0 Address rejected
(E-Mail Removed)', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550,
Error Number: 0x800CCC79

Are you certain that address (E-Mail Removed) is correct?
Will the message send if you leave that one address off?

Sorry couldn't find my original question ! There are about 20 addresses in
the group, I tried to delete the first one thinking the same thing you are -
then the error shows again with the next address on the list. is it something
to do with the way I set it up - I clicked on the address from my contacts
and put it into the bcc folder. I used myself in the "to" line.

Have you tried sending to a single recipient?
If you get a similar error message ("Address rejected") regardless of which
recipient you send to, then we have to look elsewhere for the cause.

When you get that error, are you sending from home using your Shaw
internet connection?

Since you are sending from home using your ISP, that eliminates
one possible cause for your problem.

Bcc should work just fine with groups. Perhaps Shaw has a limit on the
number of recipients. Give Shaw a call and ask them that question.
If that turns out to be the problem, you can get a free account with Gmail
that has more generous sending limits.
