Can't send emails with large attachments

I just got a new computer with Outlook 2007. I am able to send emails with
attachments as big 3 mb easily. No problems. But when I try to send an
attachment that is 5 or 6 mb the send and receive goes on and on and then
finally times out.

I already extended the time of a server time out to 10 minutes in the
advanced settings for my email account, but that didn't solve the problem. It
just caused the send and receive process to go on longer before it failed.
