I have FP2003 and have been connecting ok to our windows server 2000, but we
have done some upgrading on our network and now I can not connect the right
way. I can connect but none of the pages or folders show up. I can edit
pages if I know the name and location they will come up if I type them in,
but they do not show up on the left side like they should. We have tried
everything to even reinstalling server extensions, no luck. Is there anyone
out there that can give me some pointers on what to look for or do to get it
to work again. I really need to get this doen this weekend I hope.

Try finding any *.web files and delete them.
Delete all FP .tmp files.
Recalculate then try opening your site.

It sounds like 2 corrupt registry entries.

Close FrontPage

Click Start > Run, type: regedit and click OK.

In the window that opens click plus signs starting with the one by HKEY_CURRENT_USER
keep clicking until you are here:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\FrontPage\Explorer\FrontPage Explorer\Settings

Click once on Settings. In the right hand panel Right click on FilesDetailColumns and then select
Modify.
In the "Edit String" pop up, clear everything from Value data: and then click OK

Do exactly the same thing for FolderDetailColumns.

Close regedit and then reopen FrontPage and then the web and the folders and files should appear.

I can only find the folder entery.. but this is like this at home and at
work. I reinstalled FP2003 at work and did a repair at home. Still no
luck. On teh server at work where the site is located at, besides having
admin, I gave myself everythin on the computer rights.. so, I am lost....
IP never changedwhen I try to open the site I shows in teh bottom status
that it is doing something, but then after it stops.. NOTHING. No floder
list, no files.. nothing.. and just about all the menu functions are
greyed out like there is not a site there... any more suggestion.. Oh,
"wp" I looked for all FP tmp files did not find any of them either...

anything else to llok for.. I can remote in to the server if you can think
of anything on that end I can do..

Thanks

Did it change after you cleared the registry entry??
Did you close and then reopen FrontPage?? This is a must.
Do you have Admin or power user privileges on the machine when you changed the registry?? This is
also a must.

With FrontPage 2003 closed, copy and paste the following into start run and click OK.

%userprofile%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\FrontPageTempDir

in the folder that opens delete all files and folders that show ( if any )
Close the window and reopen FrontPage.

this is only for FP 2003.

Yes to everything.. here is a little window that pops up when I try to open
the site.."The folder 'http://www.psrdocs.com/' isn't accessible. The
folder may be located in an unavailable location, protected with a password,
or the file name contains a / or \." so any suggestions now?

Thanks for your quick replies..

When you use File Menu | Open Web / Site and you see a listing of the folders within the site you
are opening, are you then click the Open button in the bottom right of the dialog?

In the File Menu | Open Site dialog, right click and delete the URL for the site.
