5 work stations see each other but not the server.

When you say "see" what do you mean, exactly? Can you ping the server
by name? By IP address? What kind of workstations are they? (what operating
system?) What kind of server is it? (what operating system) What kind
of network connection do you have? (ethernet? Wireless? Other?)

Add the netbieu protocol to the list of protocols installed in both the systems. However, these will increase the traffic of the network and hence recommended only in small networks.
