I have a four machine home network. My main ICS PC is a
Win2kPro, and all the clients are WinXPHome. On the winxp
clients I can see the win2kpro shared printer in network
neiborhood, but I can't see the Win2kpro shared hard
drive?? I would like to be able to copy files from the
clients to the win2kpro pc...I have set up the "c" drive
on the win2kpro pc to be shared, and i have users
permissions set up on the win2kpro, do i need permissions
set up on the clients? if so how do u do that in winxp
home....

I am sure i have something stupid turned on or off, does
anyone have any sugestions.....thanks in advance

This may help. Turn off any antivirus protection you
have running on all computer. Check the Win XP PC's to
ensurre that the network connection has the firewall
turned off. Then turn off all of the pC's. Turn off
your modem and hub/router and restart the modem. Then
the Router if you are using one. The turn your PC's on
one by one, beginning with the primary PC that the
others. I've found those problems to be the usual things
when I have a printer working but no file sharing.
Remember, you don't have to share the entire drive. You
can share just particular folders. Oh yea, On all of the
PC's be sure to enable file/printer sharing.

Thanks Keith I will give that a try.....
I spoke too soon about the printer, it works ok when I connect to it and
install it on the client, but when the client is re-started it wont print to
the network printer that's connected to the win2kpro ics machine....its like
it looses its connection? any ideas....

You need to install NetBEUI protocall on all computers on
your network, for WindowsXP clients download this file and
run it, it will then allow you to install NetBEUI
protocall.

I respectfully disagree. Nothing in Windows networking requires
NetBEUI. TCP/IP, by itself, is sufficient for Internet access, File
and Printer Sharing, and all other networking functions.
