I have tried to "set up a home or small office network" 8 times. I have a
name for my computer and other comuters on the network can see me. I can't
see them. Under the Start Tab, I don't even have a button that has My
Network Places on it. When I was able to see the "Entire Network" tab (I
can't even see that anymore), I would click on it and I'd get 2 buttons: Web
Client Services and something else I can't remember anymore. I'm going crazy
trying to read message boards and no one is having this problem but me. It
is as if XP Pro doesn't even know what I'm trying to do. Will anyone know
what to do? Somehow I doubt it... You scumbags will make me pay $35/hr to
call you and get bad help from India.

I have Norton Systemworks on my computer. Is this a problem?

To get to My Network Places, double click My Computer icon and it should be
on the panel on the left hand side. To put the icon on your desktop, follow
these steps:
-- Right click empty area on Desktop, select Properties from menu
-- Select the Desktop tab and hit the Customize Desktop button on the bottom
-- Check the My Network Places checkbox under Desktop Icons

IMHO Norton is always a problem...
You would be do best to first make sure the computer
in question is free of viruses and spyware and then
uninstall Norton (often a nightmare in itself) and then
see about setting up your network. Once the network
is established you could install Norton again or go with
an alternative Firewall / Anti Virus solution or just an AV
program and use the XP SP2 Firewall. It would probably
be best if all computers run the same Firewall / Anti Virus solution
I suggest you check out the networking information at
this site: http://www.practicallynetworked.com/
